Democrats in the House of Representatives have officially nominated Democrat Nancy Pelosi to serve another term as Speaker of the House. This means that Pelosi is set to lead the lower chamber for Congress’s next term. Pelosi has been the Democrat leader in the House for the last 2 decades.
The news comes as Democrats have lost at least 8 seats in the House of Representatives in the 2020 election. The small majority will make it harder for Democrats to pass partisan legislation in the House as Democrats from swing districts are now more likely to side with Republicans on controversial legislation. As things currently stand, Democrats are expected to hold a slim 223-212 majority in the House of Representatives.
