The dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, is reportedly in “grave danger” following a recent surgical procedure. The death of Kim Jong Un would result in massive changes in North Korea, the likes of which have not been seen since Kim Jong Il died in 2011. Kim Jong Un has missed two publicly scheduled events in the last week. Since North Korea is a highly secretive dictatorship, it is highly possible that Kim Jong Un is fine. However, with that being said, it is also possible that his sister, Kim-Yo Jong, becomes the ascendancy.
UPDATE (April 27)
There are now even more questions surrounding Kim Jong Un and his health. According to South Korean media outlets, Kim Jong Un “has not been working as normally”. As previously suggested, Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim-Yo Jong, has reportedly been acting in his place for weeks now. Furthermore, China sent medical examiners to North Korea just days ago, raising questions as to what exactly is happening to Kim Jong Un.
Despite the fact that #KIMJONGUNDEAD recently trended on Twitter, South Korea is reporting that Kim Jong Un is likely “alive and well”. South Korea has suggested that the leader may merely be in isolation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, in yet another instance of contradicting reports relating to the this story, reports from Japan suggest that Kim Jong Un is brain-dead. Until official statements are released, it is unknown what condition Kim Jong Un is in. All that is known is that Kim-Yo Jong is currently serving in Kim Jong Un’s place. More details are develop in the coming days.
This story will be updated as details develop.
