Thousands of Pennsylvanian’s are planning to ascend on the State Capitol at noon on Monday, demanding Governor Wolf reopens the economy and allow people to go back to work.
One of the groups organizing the protest, ReOpen PA, has garnered more than 17,000 members in its Facebook group after being launched Monday.
Pennsylvanian’s have suffered tremendously under Governor Wolf’s shut down order with more than 1.5 million unemployment claims since the lock down began on March 15th.
Organizers say this will be a peaceful protest and will comply with law enforcement orders if need be.
Both the PA state House and Senate have passed bills to reopen the state, notably Senate Bill 613 last week which would have allowed many businesses to reopen. Democrat Governor Tom Wolf has pledged to veto it.
Unrest is growing across the country as anti-lock down protests have been taken place in Michigan, Ohio, Massachusetts and California.
